Update on Christmas Donations and Offerings
Stirling and District Women’s Aid was the beneficiary of our Christmas Gift Service donations and the Manager and Senior Children’s Worker sent us the following letter:-
I am writing to you to thank you for the donations to Stirling and District Women’s Aid this Christmas. Due to your generosity the children and women we support we were able to make sure that there were Christmas Presents under the tree in many homes this Christmas.
Your donations goes a long way and we were able to put on a Christmas party for the women and children in our refuge and make sure that they all had food hampers providing them with some Christmas fayre.
Christmas time is a particularly difficult for women and children fleeing domestic abuse as they often have had to leave their homes, belongings and toys to move into temporary housing, or into our refuge. Your support is vital to us and enables us to provide the service we do and we are very grateful for all you do for us.
Our Christingle Service offering amounted to £63.80 and will be sent to The Beatson Institute in Glasgow.
The Watchnight Service retiring offering realised £195.44 with the beneficiary being Crohn’s and Colitis UK.

New Facility
Roy Anderson gave an update of the process of establishing the new facility to the Kirk Session in December.
Following a meeting with the combined committeees, Roy was certain that the project would eventually come to fruition.
It was agreed that a smaller building be designed and the project would be done in two stages with the second stage being completed when funds were in place. This would involve putting a second floor on the building. The total cost would likely be around £200,000.00.
It was also agreed that a professional fund raiser be hired to point the group in the correct direction for raising public funding.
That meeting with Roy Anderson took place on Saturday 7th January. It proved most fruitful meeting and a report will be given at the next meeting on 30th January when the combined committees are scheduled to meet again.
The outcome of these meetings will be printed in the next issue of LKN.

About Action Week
Poverty & Homelessness Action Week has been running each year since 2008. It brings together two special Sundays, which have been marked in UK churches for many years: Homelessness Sunday and Poverty Action Sunday.
The Week aims to:
• raise awareness of the issues of poverty and homelessness in the UK
• raise funds for projects and campaigns which work to tackle poverty and homelessness
• involve people in campaign actions that tackle the causes of poverty and homelessness.
Individuals, churches and groups are all encouraged to get involved in the week.
At Logie we will hold a fund raising event after the Service on Sunday 29th January 2012. Everyone is invited to have a hot chocolate ,tea or coffee and biscuits and donate at least £1.
On Sunday 5th February 2012 there will be a collection of goods for Stirling Start up our local group which provides starter packs for homeless people in the Stirling area.
They welcome tinned and dried food including tinned meat, toiletries for men and women, cleaning products and crockery and cutlery. Action Week is jointly organised by Church Action on Poverty, Housing Justice and Scottish Churches Housing Action.
